Art Deco

After the Arts and Crafts period hallmarked by handmade and simple honest design, the growth in modern machinery and industry resulted in Art Deco.  This style utilizes straight lines, simple and often geometric shapes and use of industrial materials like glass and metal.  While this style originated in France in the 20’s, the American style is less feminine and has a more robust feeling.  Earlier designs are typically adorned with floral patterns, while the later deco period in the 30s celebrated sleek streamlined designs; a reaction to the ongoing Great Depression which required methods to make fixtures less expensive to design and manufacture.  All fixtures are completely rewired and shades are original unless noted.
