Reproduction Ferrowatt Carbon Filament Bulbs
Reproduction Ferrowatt Carbon Filament Bulbs
FerroWatt was founded in late 19th century Vienna, Austria under the name "Watt AG". The light bulb manufacturing company prospered into the 1930's rivaling such large manufacturers as Osram and Philips. Authentically detailed exactly like the 1880 original invented by Thomas Alva Edison, these bulbs are authentic right down to their looped carbon filaments and hand-exhausted tips. They are the best authentic reproduction carbon filament lamps available today. FerroWatt’s historic lamps are just the right finishing touch of authenticity to Victorian, Art Nouveau, and any early 20th century fixture, especially where bulbs are in view.
There are eight models to choose from, all made using the original molds used in the early 1900's and assembled by hand. Modern incandescent lamps use a tungsten filament, introduced after 1906, which produces a whiter light than the lovely, warm glow of an authentic carbon filament. These bulbs put out less lumens than modern bulbs of an equivalent wattage, and significantly more heat. The higher wattage bulbs look fabulous dimmed down a bit, to really show off the filament shape. Ferrowatt bulbs have an average life of 2,500 user hrs. operating on 120
volts.
All bulbs are fully dimmable on standard dimmers. Dimming will also extend the life of each bulb greatly, though the light will be quite a bit yellower that at full brightness.

Two bulbs are available for overseas applications. Both are 240v with a choice of E27 or B22 bases. E27 is a 27mm tall base with Edison type screw threads. The North American standard is E26, (for 120v) which is simply 1mm shorter, but otherwise nearly identical to E27. Both also come in the B22 base, also known as a 22mm bayonet base.
In countries which use 220–240 volts AC domestic power, E27 is the most common size. The bayonet light bulb mount is still prevalent in many former members of the British Empire such as India, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom as well as regions of the Middle East. See photo below for photos of the E26, E27 and B22 bases. All bulbs can be dimmed on a common dimmer.
Note that all 240v bulbs must be purchased in multiples of 6. (6, 12, 18, etc.) We will ship overseas, which is usually about US $30 for 12-18 bulbs. Shipping is via US Post Office, which is by far the least expensive. For an exact quote, please contact us. Note that you may or may not be responsible for import duty. Contact your local customs office for information.
